Visit to the third Mercy International center

Mercy International is constructing another Children’s Village. This center, Mercy’s third, is in Phrae, Thailand. Five infants have already been brought to them and they will take in around 60 more. The facilities are not yet complete. We are considering in what way we can assist them. Please consider whether you can make a donation towards the future of the children you see below.

We had the opportunity to join in their Sunday worship service and were thrilled to hear Sharon, the director, share John 3:16 very clearly with the children. It made me want to do all I can to enable her work. These children are so vulnerable. During the worship service, I was asked to hold and pray aloud for Ying, that she is not HIV positive. Ying is the baby you see my mom holding above. Many of the children come from Bangkok where prostitution is rampant. Children have so little value and many are born to HIV+ positive mothers. I could barely get the prayer out. This village is a safe haven that will provide an abundant life for so many of Thailand’s littlest people.

When the directors, Sharon, and her husband, John, heard that children from another one of the organization’s centers were coming to visit for a week, they decided to fund and build a pool, of their own savings, for the children. These were children who had no one to go see over school holidays.

When we left, we gave a small donation to send the older kids to see and ride elephants, we’ll send pictures soon. We hope to send quite a bit more to enable them to finish the facilities. If you’d like to make a donation directly to this project, you can do so via their website, www.mercy-international.com, or you can send it through Portion for Orphans, just let us know that it’s for Phrae Children’s Village.

Nepal

On May 8th we, Katie and Sally, left Thailand for Kathmandu, Nepal. We will live there for one month at Parizat Nestling Home, with 50 girls, most of whom are at the home due to the poverty related crime of their parents. We will be teaching Bible a few nights a week as well doing crafts and swim lessons with the 50 girls. Please pray for safety and for God to enable our time there to be fruitful. Here they are watching the Jesus Film for Kids on a previous visit.

Hope Run directors needed

Hope RunWe are currently looking for someone to organize and direct the Marshall Hope Run/Walk, and or other locations as well, for January 2009. This will enable Sally to focus on organizing a run in another location. Let us know if you’re interested or if you know of someone else who might be. 100% of funds raised at these events directly benefit children in various orphanages around the world.

Thank you all so much for coming along with us via prayer and giving. We really appreciate and enjoy all of the support, partnership and feedback.

Sincerely,
